Picky

Madilyn is a bit of a picky eater. I think she must have gotten it from me. I'm getting better. I think. I've been known to go through stages where I eat the same thing for a long time and then suddenly decide I'm never going to eat it again. I once ate cream of wheat every morning for 3 years and then decided I didn't like it at all and went another year or two before deciding I liked it again. But the list of things that I never eat like hamburgers, milk, and condiments is getting smaller. So I decided I'm the one to blame for this picky eater. I've tried about every kind of baby food I can think of and the only things that she consistently eats are green beans and peas. She opens her mouth wide and loves every bite. If I try something else, she closes her mouth so tight I can't even get the spoon in. So last night I decided to try giving her some bread to see if she liked that. She stuck her tongue out and wouldn't let me come near her mouth with the bread. I gave up and just gave her the whole piece to hold while we finished our dinner. She smelled the bread, even licked it, but then decided tearing it to pieces would be more fun than eating it.

She was so proud of herself. I'm glad it was only bread. I can only imagine the messes she will make when she can actually move around!We had crumbs everywhere. Somehow she even got them in her diaper.

Summer

It is starting to get hot here in Texas. Today the high is 102 degrees and it doesn't look like it is going to cool down anytime soon. So we have been spending a lot of time at the pool. Madilyn loves the water, it completely wears her out, and it is a nice way to cool down. It also helps that our apartment complex has 8 pools so we can go whenever we want. I think she would spend all day in the water if we let her.

6 Months

Well you may have thought I forgot about this blog, but I didn't. I guess I'm just not very good at it yet. I'll try to fill you in a little on what we have been up to lately. Madilyn is 6 months old now. I can't believe it. It's so fun to see her learn new things everyday and see her personality really start showing. She's definitely a lot more like me than her dad. She's stubborn like me. She keeps trying to suck her thumb and I'm trying not to let her, but she's persistent. She tries to suck on her toes which is even worse. She laughs and smiles at just about everyone she sees. She likes to say ba ba ba and ma ma ma all the time. We've taken her swimming a couple of times and she seems to like it more each time. We have to do something to keep cool this summer. Texas gets hot! She loves standing up in her walker and playing with her toys. Here's a few pictures of her lately:
